Carried is designed to be a private space. Your conversations aren't stored as transcripts. What stays on your device is a distilled summary — themes, people, and situations you've mentioned — so the app can get to know you over time. We don't sell your data. We never will.

When you chat with Carried, your messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. This is how the AI works — your messages leave the device briefly to be processed.
During onboarding, you provide your name, faith tradition, life stage, an optional personal note, and a name for your AI companion. This information is stored locally on your device. It is included as context in each request sent to Anthropic so the AI can speak to you personally.
Carried is offered as an auto-renewing subscription with a free trial. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see, store, or have access to your payment details — Apple handles all of that.
We use RevenueCat, a subscription management provider, to verify subscription status and manage entitlements. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated anonymous identifier associated with your subscription, the product you purchased, and renewal/cancellation events from Apple. We may collect anonymous usage data such as number of sessions, session length, and approximate message counts. This data helps us understand how the app is being used and improve it. It is never linked to conversation content and does not include anything you said.
We may automatically collect standard technical information — device type, operating system version, app version, and crash reports — to keep the app working properly.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell or rent your information to any third party.
Carried offers an auto-renewable subscription. By starting a subscription:
We don't issue refunds directly — refund requests are handled by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Your messages are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI. Anthropic has its own privacy practices that govern how they handle API data. You can review them at anthropic.com/legal/privacy. Under Anthropic's standard API terms, your inputs are not used to train their models.
The App Store handles all payments and subscription billing. Apple's privacy policy governs their handling of payment and account data.
We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status. RevenueCat receives anonymous purchase events from Apple. Their privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
Our website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your browser, and does not track you across other websites or across separate visits. It records the page viewed along with general information every browser sends to every website, such as referring page and country. Their privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. To opt out on a particular browser, visit any page on this site with ?notrack at the end of the address.
Our website includes the Meta Pixel, an advertising tracker. Unlike our analytics, it sets cookies, and it can recognize you across other websites that run Meta's tools as well as on Facebook and Instagram. If you have a Meta account, the activity it records may be associated with it. We use it to measure whether our ads lead to visits and downloads, and Meta may also use what it collects for its own advertising purposes under its own policies. You can limit how Meta uses this data in your Meta ad preferences at accountscenter.meta.com/ad_preferences, and you can block the tracker outright with browser-level tracking protection such as Safari's Prevent Cross-Site Tracking, Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection, or a content blocker.
Your Living Profile and personal information are stored locally on your device in encrypted storage. They are not synced to any cloud server we operate.
We take reasonable technical measures to protect any data we do hold, but no system is perfectly secure. Please don't use Carried to store highly sensitive information like financial details, passwords, or legal documents.
You can:
When you erase your data in the app, one thing remains on your device: an anonymous count of free conversations used and the date your free access began. This exists so that free access can't be renewed by erasing your data, and it contains nothing about you. Deleting the app removes it entirely.
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA respectively. Contact us to exercise them.
Carried is designed for reflection, growth, and spiritual companionship. It is not a medical device, not a mental health treatment platform, and not a substitute for professional care.

Carried will surface these resources when it detects you may need them, but the app cannot replace a therapist, counselor, or emergency services.
Carried is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you through the app before the changes take effect. Minor clarifications may be made without notice. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
